Barkhad Abdi From A Bizarre Spells In Jail To Hollywood’s Golden Boy

Barkhad Abdi didn’t sleep well the night before the Oscar nomination was announced, he has been a troubled man not like Justin Bieber who had an egg fight recently, he was a former limo driver who was jailed twice previous with offences ranging from drugs possession to giving cops a fraudulent name, he is new in Hollywood with one movie, “Captain Phillips,” he acted as a lead Somalia pirate opposite Tom Hanks, and ended with an Oscar nomination for his very first acting role.
Barkhad, who was born in Mogadishu and moved to Minneapolis as a teen, said . “I was at my room, watching TV until it came on. It was shocking, honestly—I was jumping up and down…My life’s been changing since this movie came out, and it’s just for the better,” he said by phone while on his way to the Critics’ Choice Awards. “And it’s getting better day by day. Today’s the best you got.”

Though he got no training as an actor, he is not planning on returning as a driver again. “I just want to keep acting and see where it goes from there,” he said.. “I’m just taking it easy for now,” he said. While he wasn’t aware any reaction yet in Somalia, he said: “I know people in Minneapolis are going crazy now.”
He has always been into lots of troubles, in  2004, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail and given one year of probation for giving a police officer a false name of another person, and buying liquor aged under 21. He was also fined $1000.
